Pregnant after a Loss

Anyone get pg right after m/c? U did not wait a cycle.

My Dr. said to wait a month, but of course I have not taken the advice.  Its possible I am pg now.  Also wondering if the dr. is going to be mad to know i didn't wait...

thanks

  • Yes! I did!  I had a m/c at around 4 or 5 weeks the first time.  At first the doctor told me we didn't have to wait at all to try again because it happened so early on.  I pressed him about the issue and he said "well maybe wait a month".  We waited 4 weeks but I hadn't gotten my period yet and wound up pregnant.

How far along were you when you had your m/c?

  • I was only 4-5 weeks, so that's one reason why I didn't feel too pressed to wait a cycle and my dr. said she wanted me to wait so they could time the due date correctly, but with u/s I don't see how that's such a big deal.  Glad to hear the success stories!
  • I'm sure it's fine.  They will be able to calculate the due date via u/s.  I wouldn't stress about it.  For all she knows the condom broke or something ;)  Hope you get pregnant again soon!
  • My doc. also told to wait a cycle but I found myself pregnant 3 weeks and 2 days post miscarriage.  I did have a natural miscarriage rather early at 5 weeks 2 days (blighted ovum).  This pregnancy seems to be going fine and we have already gotten to see the the baby and its wonderful hearbeat.  At my post miscarriage appointment I questioned him about getting pregnant right after miscarriage and the consquences....he confimed my research and that there has never been a study that has shown your at greater risk of having a miscarriage if you get pregnant right after one (based on natural miscarriage).

Nobody can really answer if you could be pregnant now...not enough info.  I do know you can ovulate 2 weeks after a miscarriage (I'm pretty sure you cannot ovulate if your still bleeding) and your HCG levels must return to 0 before you can ovulate.

  • I did. Twice.  I had a blighted ovum in January, then got pregnant in March but it ended in a chemical pregnancy and then I got pregnant in April with this one.  Professional doctors should not give you a hard time about it.  If they did, I would find a new doctor as that is an indicator of how they will be in general about all sorts of things.  GL and best wishes.  I hope to see you here soon.

  • Me.  I got PG two weeks after my chem. PG.  You can see how it all turned out in my siggy pic.
  • we lost our last baby 11/26 and we got our first positive 12/29, they had to do an ultrasound to date the PG, and I haven't had any complications at all!

I went in on Jan. 5 for what I thought was going to be my routine 11-week appointment only to discover via doppler and a follow-up ultrasound that my baby had stopped developing around 8 weeks. I opted for the D&C, had that Jan. 8, and ended up with a positive HPT on February 11. I had spotting off and on from before my BFP until around 15 weeks, but other than that my pregnancy has been very normal and uneventful. Oh, I did have to go on progesterone supplements, but my progesterone was so borderline that it was really more of a precaution. My doctor did not at ALL give me a hard time about getting pregnant before my first period; in fact he told me at my surgery follow-up that it "would not be the end of the world" (in a joking tone) if I got pregnant without waiting a cycle.

Good luck with however things turn out!
