2nd Trimester

having a rough body image week

and here's why:

1. It's hot and humid as balls and despite me drinking as much water as I can stand and watching my sodium, my feel and hands are still swelling and it's ugly.

2. I'm trying to eat healthy, but it's hard going. Sweets will be the end of me.

3. I feel like I can't trust my scale right now (thanks to water retension) but I have my next appt next Wens and I'm dreading the weigh-in. I'm afraid I'm gaining too much.

4. My face is broken out. Again.

5. Maternity clothes suck.

thanks for reading, vent over :)?

  • so sorry you're having a bad week.
  • Take a shower, do your hair and nails, wear your fav dress and eat a salad! When I'm feeling ugly, i go overboard trying to make myself feel pretty, and it really helps. I hope you start to feel better soon -- i know what it's like to feel like a swollen pg blob. Just remember, it's temporary :)

Sex with DH is also a nice cure-all!?

  • Ok first of all, DITTO! I feel your pain completely to all of your points. When I feel that way, I go get some exercise to feel like I've burned off some of the ugly calories. But I do like the suggestion of self-pampering to feel better. Next time maybe I'll try that too! Remember, its probably not as bad as it feels AND if your LO & you are healthy, then you are succeeding at your job! Your body really is no longer your own! There is always lots of time afterwards to fix the weight issues (if there are any of course). I have to remind myself of this all the time. Then I try to enjoy the feeling of being pg in the first place.

  • LOL, sorry to laugh but sometimes I feel the same way! I live in HOT a$$ HOUSTON, and it's been humid for 2 months everyday. My feet have been swollen for a few months and they tend to never go down. I also think I have a water retention issue, and the weight... oh let's not start. I agree that doing your nails and putting on a dress will make you feel really good. Plus I've been wearing lingerie for DH and he LOVES it! ;-)

((HUGS)) Just keep doing and you're doing and taking care of yourself. Stick to the natural sugars in fruit, they have lots of water in them--and hello? It's the perfect season for it!

  • Well think of it this way. I have to travel to Disney next week and was forced to buy a maternity Bathing suit. Thanks to the huge boobs I had to buy an X-L. Now eveyone will be able to see the cellulite that's appeared.

I feel you on this one...I'm ashamed to admit I haven't had a haircut since March.  Embarrassed

DH tried to make me feel better by telling me that our 8 mth preg friend weighs 170, and I already weigh more than that.  I didn't tell him that, but it was depressing.
