Two Under 2

I'm so uneducated about carseats

So don't flame... : )

I have a small sedan, is it possible (and legal and safe) to fit two carseats in the back?  One for an infant and one for a 1.5 year old.

Or do I need a bigger car?

  • Yes, it's possible. I was driving a sedan before we had #3. It's a little tight in terms of space, but it's not illegal at all. Nor is it unsafe.

  • With the right seats you can get 3 carseats in a toyota corolla. Perfectly safe and legal.

What you can NOT do (in most cars - check owners manual) is use the Latch system to install them all. But with just 2 behind the driver and passenger, that isn't a problem either.

  • They should fit. We have a Grand Prix and we can fit 3 carseats in the back of it, of course we have to put 1 in at a time then slam both doors, but they fit.
