number on the scale going up?!

Since I stopped EPing I have started the quest to get back into shape a bit.  I'm within 5 pounds of where I want to be--remember I only got to 32 weeks so I also had less to lose.  But I want to change how that weight is distributed.  So I'm trying to gain muscle and lose fat and trying to lose an overall 5 pounds.

Well, I started running/jogging 3 times a week a few weeks ago and then this week I added in 2 days of weight work to try and tone up some and have started cutting calories more since I don't have to worry about a milk supply anymore.  But every morning I am gaining this week--WTF?! I'm trying to tell myself that maybe it's just me gaining muscle first but it is frustrating to see that after my first kick a$$ week of working out--I worked my tail off with 5 days of working out and eating well.  I even skipped out on getting fast food with my coworkers and ate my turkey sandwich instead. :( Boo!!  Trying to stay motivated to stick to it even though there is no "reward" on the scale yet.

That is all...vent over.

Re: number on the scale going up?!

  • Whenever I revamp my workout program or come back after a hiatus I gain before I lose.  This time I was ready to slit my wrists when I gained 6lbs in the first week!!! Now I'm at the end of the 2nd week and  I've lost all of those 6lbs and am down 2lbs from my original starting weight.

It's the most discouraging part of working out for me!  Stick with it and you'll be rewarded!

  • Stick with it. It always takes me at least 2 weeks to see any improvement.....why I dhave no idea but its always the same story.

I do suggest you measure yourself. I always see the inches go away bf the number on the scale. It should help you see some results. GL!
