High-Risk Pregnancy

It's official...permanent bedrest til delivery.

Doctors appt today, she took one look at my home readings for the last two days and said, "yup, your body likes being on bedrest!" I got awesome readings and almost all my symptoms went away when I was sitting or lying on the couch. My numbers jumped a bit when I get up to make a meal or shower. There is a definite correlation between activity and high readings.

Happy mommy = happy baby, right? OB said if I really wanted to, I could go back temporarily to work at part time doing a desk job. But I make the same amount of money on disability (50% pay for 12 wks) as I would working part time at work, only to end up back on bed rest in a few weeks

So, its likely that I will be here another 5 weeks, then induced, then 6 weeks at home with baby, then back to work part time. I could tell my boss was a little frazzled, but I'm trying not to feel guilty about it.

  • Try not to worry about work--they'll figure it out and manage without you.  Sounds like bedrest is best for you and baby and those are two most important people to consider.  Hang in there!

  • I am also on bed rest. I am 34 weeks along so not that much longer either. I've been on bed rest since week 7. I've had hyperemesis gravidurum which I've been gaining weight recently so that is a plus, but still really sick. I've had bleeding and in the hospital twice this week for urinary tract infection and horrific pain in my body. I'm hoping and praying the time fly's by and also on short term disability.?
  • Hoping the next several week fly by for you!! Do not give your job a second thought! You are doing what is best for your baby!
