If you have a double copy of the MTHFR gene, did your OB treat the condition during your pregnancy? How about going foward with future pregnancies?
During my pregnancy with DS my OB had me take extra folic acid and I was also on lovenox. At my annual exam this week however she said she had been reading through some medical journals and is not sure I really need the lovenox for future pregnancies. She has refered me to a specialist I will see next week-whom she mentioned happens to be very stingy with lovenox:( I am so nervous now. We are thinking of TTC again in a few months and I just assumed I would be on the lovenox again. I know it may not prevent a loss, and my first (and only) loss may or may not have been related to the MTHFR, but the idea of not being on the lovenox is not sitting well with me.
Interested to see if you girls were treated at all. Thanks!
Re: MTHFR girls, please come in!
Diagnosed with it today, in addition to another clotting disorder, after two first tri losses, 2 D&Cs, a late second tri stillbirth, and a high risk pregnancy with our son.
I am on 800mg folic acid, baby asprin, and will be on Lovenox or Heparin with the next pregnancy.

MTHFR only puts you at risk for blood clots, it is not exactly a blood clotting disorder. Standard treatment is etra folic acid, B6 & B12 vitamins and baby aspirin.
I have the double mutation and did do lovenox with my pregnancy with A, but that was a precaution because of placental complications I had with my first pregnancy.
