2nd Trimester

Picking a name

So we still have no idea what we are going to name this baby.  I check out the Baby Names board from time to time just to see if I can get ideas from what the ladies over there are discussing.

However, I noticed that there are tons of posts saying "we picked a name" and they are only in the 1st trimester.  Or people stressing over having a Boy and a Girl name picked out before their 20 week u/s and they know they are going to find out the sex anyway.  I understand Team Green b/c of course you have to have two names picked out.

Anyway, how many of you had a name picked out already in 1st Tri, or even before you got pregnant?  or picked one before the Big U/S.  Or how many are like me and still don't have a clue???!!?

Re: Picking a name

  • I have no idea what we are going to name our LO. We are having  a tough time deciding on girl names that we both like. We will probably still be talking names when I'm in labor.

  • we only really started thinking of names after we found out the gender. i was surprised at how quickly we agreed on one. But we have known the name for about 3 weeks now.
  • I had my girl name picked out before I ever even thought about getting pregnant :) I always said if I had a girl I would name her Olivia Grace.

The boy name was harder, but after finding out that this little one was growing inside my belly, FI and I talked about it and decided on Judah for a boy.

We were lucky to agree quickly, and I was so excited that names was one of the first things I thought of. I think it's normal though not to know what you are going to name the baby yet. You just have to wait until you hear that one, and it will fit.

    Good Luck!

  • We had names picked out before we started TTC.

  • We had ours picked before we were pregnant. I thought that we might change our minds once we finally got pregnant, but nope! We are using a name we picked out when we were still dating!

  • My first was named before the big u/s. We had a boy and girl name ready.

We knew what first boy name we wanted early on with my second, but didn't pick a middle name until he was born. And I almost changed my mind on his first name the day I delivered (I'm glad I didn't). We never had a girl's name for our second.

With this one, we have some ideas, but nothing even close to definite. We probably won't buckle down until after we find out if it's a boy or girl.

  • We have always liked Claire for a girl so that was a given and then Clark was the only boys name that we liked and both agreed on so when we found out we were having a boy then Clark it was.  We did have Claire picked out before we got pregnant and Clark was figured out before we found out the gender.
  • We picked a boy and girl name about 2 wks before big u/s.  It took us all of 20 minutes :)

  • I know with DD I was well over half way done with pg by the time we decided on her name.  We were team green then so we had a hard time picking 2 names.

This time I am still undecided and DH has been little help.  We have our U/S on Monday and still havent decided if we are going to find out the gender or not.

  • We always said when we got pregnant again , if it was a boy we liked the name Jack. So as soon as I found out at 16 weeks it was a boy, I started to call him Jack. Then we started to think of different names, debate those names, etc and finally this mon we decided to go with....wait for it......Jack. Suprise!

I have to say Jack is one of our front runners right now  :)  DH is John and I don't want to name the baby after him exactly, but I like family names or names that honor family members.  so since Jack is a NN for John that is why we like it the most so far.  But it's still so hard!  like a PP said, it will probably be the day I have him that he finally gets a name

hee hee, maybe we should come up with a Badge for that  :)

  • We are the same way! With my son we went into the hospital with a list of names. Now with this one were the same way. My husband and I don't agree! He has his names and I have mine! This is hard!

I have friends that have there babys names on stuff right after they found out the sex! I wish I had a favorite name!

  • We had first names chosen before we were even engaged!  Right now, we are set for first and middle for a boy and just the first name for a girl.

  • still waiting to discuss with my SO.  I have had the name i wanted picked for weeks but he doesn't like it to much.

  • We go next thursday for the big u/s and we do have a girl name picked : Audrey Helen, but we still have no clue for a boy. I am kinda hoping we wont need a boys name! :)
  • I've always loved the names Isabella and Sebastian. While DH hasn't nixed Isabella, he refuses to allow Sebastian... and I'm not so keen on Isabella since it's insanely popular.  So we don't have any names picked out yet though are discussing it...  It's harder than I thought it would be.
  • I had my girl name picked out in 1st Tri.  I have two or three boy names picked out and will narrow it down if it is a boy.  The girl name is set in stone, but the boy name I am being flexible with.

  • Personally, I will never understand having a name picked out so early.  That isn't me.  Secondly, DH and I agreed in the 1st pg that we wouldn't seriously discuss names until we found out the gender.  I do not want to get into any heated arguments over a gender name that won't even matter at this point.  Thirdly, DH and I further agreed to have 3 names picked out and that we will not name the child until we see him (I'm having a 2nd boy).  That is what we did for the first boy and it worked out well.  Besides, then you aren't lieing when someone asks you if you have a name picked out.  he he he
