Yesterday, I was told by our HR lady I needed to box up all my stuff because they are going to be installing a "office" where my cubical now sits (its soft walls, but they go up floor to ceiling w/ a door). No doubt this is for my replacement, who is obviously so wonderful that he/she needs an office. My boss is on vacation, and she knew nothing about this.
I asked her where I was supposed to move to. She hemmed and hawwed about it, went to talk to our admin office/CEO, and finally told me to move into an adjacent empty cubical. I carry all my stuff over there, and right after I finish, she tells me that they are reconfiguring that area too. I need to just box my stuff up completely and BTW, they aren't going to change the phone lines just for a few days. So, I had to move back into my old cubical.
I just wanted to scream "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, I'M PREGNANT!"
As of Monday, I have no place to sit. I'm not leaving until November. This is the thanks I get for my years of hard work, AND letting them know in advance my plans so the transition goes smoothly. I'm a great employee, I even won the quarterly award last quarter.
Wait, did I mention that I used to have a real office, but was moved out of it into this cube in January during another "reconfiguration."
I should have just quit and left them hanging. I hope this wonderful new person who needs an office sucks horribly and it all bites them in the butt. I've lost all motivation to train this person...
Re: Vent: Let's kick around the pregnant lady.
That's an understatement! I hate this freaking place. I would have quit already if I wasn't pregnant. I am going to be a SAHM, so we really need the extra money.
Here's some of the things they've done in the past year:
-Tried to hire a new boss for my subject area at a salary 2x mine. Told me I would have to help train said person. Obviously, I threatened to quit and they changed their mind.
-Laid off a very essential co-worker who had been there 20 years, and then called 2 weeks later and begged her to come back.
-Decided to split our large, 2 week long, yearly event into two large, 2 week long yearly events WITH a $2 million budget shortfall.
-HR lady announced to my entire department that I was pregnant, when I told her it was confidential.
-Boss (not my current one) announced to the entire company that I had a miscarriage, when I told him I didn't want anyone else to know.
Yep. I have a very specialized position with a lot of responsibility. There is also a big event that is in October that I will not be able to attend. Its not unreasonable to think they need a lot of time to have a smooth transition.
Of course, its not unreasonable to think they will try to push me out early. They don't have a leg to stand on though, I have great reviews from previous years, won the quarterly award, have tons of gushing emails from my boss saying I have done such a great job with the position, etc. I'm also 4 months overdue for my annual review.
Oh, and I have a lawyer friend (member of this non-profit) that would LOVE to sue them. LOL.
Wow, what a swell place. Thank god you are going to be able to leave and never come back!
