Poor Hope has officially been diagnosed with constipation (duh. Did I need to pay $175 to be told that small hard poops = constipation?)
Anyway, the doctor recommended Milk of Magnesia..which I ain't thrilled about. He also suggested upping the cereal to every day (which we were planning on doing anyway starting at 7 mos, so I'll just start now).
We also give her prune juice, but that doesn't seem to help every time. Anyone else have magical cures? Besides the blueberries mentioned below!
Re: Milk of Magnesia for constipation??
Have you tried regular prunes (gerber) puree. The prune juice never really worked for us but the prunes......watch out and break out the hazmat gear!
We have tried Milk of Magnesia and to be honest we have more success with prunes.
Good luck, poor Hope!
prune juice did the trick for Spencer from 8 weeks old onward. I also added non-binding fruits to his cereal (oatmeal), almost immediately since he had known the taste for so long...and IMHO plain cereal tasted like what I would imagine wallpaper paste to taste like.
Hang in there LO!

The Mylanta isn't so bad. If you get the Cherry Supreme, they think it's candy. Robbie used to get it back in the NICU. (for his reflux, not constipation.. that was just an added benefit.)
Other than that, we had to use glycerin suppositories to get him to go. He never had hard poops, he just wouldn't go.
My Blog
