Dr. Alex Tepper and Mount Sinai Reviews?

Hello all if anyone is using this doctor and can provide me with reviews I would appreciate it.  This is my first pregnancy super scared and worried about getting right doctor and hospital combination.  Also if anyone has just given birth at mount sinai I would appreciate any input you might have on the hospital.  I was referred to Dr. Tepper by my gyn who highly recommended him but not sure if I should go with the first doctor I try? Any advice input would be great.

I gave birth and Mt Sinai 6 months ago and LOVED the hospital and staff.  The nurses are really helpful, there is a lactation specialist that does the rounds and can help with breastfeeding by request only (very busy person so try to ask for them as soon at you start bf-ing)  They are pro bf-ing and will not give the baby a bottle without any parental consent but will not make you feel bad if you decide not to bf.  We had a private room but the shared rooms are also very nice, cost of private room is approx 650 and upwards.  We chose to splurge on a private room cause my husband wanted to stay overnight.  Only downside is that there is a floor that has not been renovated so it is not as nice as the renovated floors but they will fill the renovated floors up first and any overflow will be on the unrenovated one.

If we have another baby, I'd def give birth there again!  If you have any other questions, send me a note!

     Good luck!

Thanks for your input I was worried because someone had told me the hospital was dirty, but you have set me at ease, did you have natural, how long did they allow you to try?  Thanks again.

Hmmm...I was in a private room so I can't speak for how clean the shared rooms are but our room was clean.  As for natural birth, I did get an epidural and pushed the kid out, not sure when you say natural, do you mean no drugs?  I def needed the drugs!  I labored for a little over an hour, I dont think c-section was even on the drs mind as all seemed to be going well.  I think this would depend on your dr, some drs rush to do a c-section whereas I felt that mine was very pro v-delivery so that was the course we took.  I actually spoke to her before I chose her as my ob about her views on c-sections and pain meds.  btw, I chose mt sinai cause I had outpatient surgery there a while back and they were super organized and the nurses were fabulous!

    Hope that helps!

We're also a first time pregnancy and using Dr. Tepper, so would love to hear what people say.  He was also the first one that we tried...

So far, he has a good bedside manner (although, have only seen him once), and he seems like someone that we could get along with, but would love to hear other peoples' experiences with him...

I use Dr. Tepper and LOVE him so far. ?I was referred to him by a friend who used him with her first baby which she just delivered this past January. ?She gave birth at Mt. Sinai and said that unlike a lot of other doctors who are only there for "the catch," he came to check on her several times throughout the day. ?(I think he runs back and forth to his office since it is so close.) ?I love that he does an ultrasound at every appointment - its very reassuring and also just a lot of fun to get pics of the baby throughout the pregnancy. ?I recommend him to anyone looking for an OB.

While I don't have any personal experience at Mt. Sinai yet, it is one of the top 2 ranked hospitals in NYC to deliver at and they just redid their maternity floors a few years ago so its really nice. (I've visited someone there and at NYU and Mt. Sinai was MUCH nicer.)

If Dr. Tepper is solo practicioner who delivers when he is unavailable?  Does he work with other OBs that fill in for him?  Anyone know?  THANKS

Dr. Tepper is my OB. This is my first pregnancy so I don't know what to expect. I am 3 months into my pregnancy and so far very satisfied. He is personable, knowleadgeable, and seems genuinely interested in the health of me and my baby. If I had to complain about one thing it would be that he is too thorough and I question whether or not I need all these tests. But again, its my first pregnancy so I am going along with it all without question. I have had no personal experiences with any of the hospitals in NYC.

Just posted this elsewhere as well, but please don't use Alex Tepper.

I had a horrible experience with him during a first pregnancy that ended in miscarriage. Found him unsympathetic and even cold. Also scheduled me for several unnecessary (as confirmed by my primary care doctor), time-consuming and anxiety-provoking tests, then withheld the results from me because "I wouldn't understand." He also violated HIPAA (privacy) several times by name-dropping some of his famous patients as well as a coworker of mine and discussing their treatment with me.

That said, I had a good experience with the practice and the people at Mount Sinai Hospital when I went in to have a D&C after I miscarried, and am considering using them when I switch doctors.
