SlapChop vs. Tomato

SlapChop wins, IMO.

I was adding some fresh tomato to jarred spaghetti sauce.  When I have tomatoes that are past their prime but still edible, into the sauce they go.  I decided the SlapChop deserved a chance to have its way with them, rather than pulling out the bulky food processor.  I didn't de-seed the tomatoes, so it was a little messy (some juice escaped out the bottom--no spray or anything!), but again, I felt the cuts were pretty even.  Bonus I wasn't expecting--it separated the skin from the tomatoes--awesome.  It was a little mushy, but I think that was more because of the seeds and quality of the tomatoes.

I'm making chicken salad sometime this week, so onions and celery are next on the block.

  • Interesting...I may just have to get one since it conquered the tomatoes.
  • I'm curious to see if it can do a (canned) chipotle pepper in Adobo sauce. I have a few recipes that call for those chopped and it was a nightmare in the Vidalia onion chopper. Yeah, I should've just chopped those by hand.
