Let's talk shoes

So I am going to admit that I have never bought Ben or Kate a pair of shoes.  They lived in socks when we went out during the fall/winter and just go barefoot now.

What shoes are good?  Ben is nowhere near walking but Kate is pulling up like crazy will they need different types of shoes?

Who makes the best ones?

From what a friend said her DD did better when she first learned to walk in soft sole shoes.

Jenna never had shoes until she started walking.  I love see kai run shoes.  I saw a friends kid in them and thought they were so cute.  They have soft ones for before walking and then regular ones which are still super soft/flexible.  They meet the standards of the podiatric ass. too.

ooh thanks, they have the MJ's again, I am ordering them right now before I forget again!

  • I really loved Robeez for Carter.  He wore them (and the cheaper Target brand version of them) until he was walking consistently on his own outside in bad weather.  I was sad to be done with them, and I will definitely be buying them for Kian when the weather turns colder (right now he's in socks or bare feet).
  • Well, I'm the Product Manager for Stride Rite, so although one might think I'm biased, I acutally have a lot of knowledge of foot development and what shoe is best for baby. You should absolutely buy a soft soled shoe for the twins. But, not all soft soles are good.... a baby's foot twists and turns as he/she begins to walk and it's important that the shoes have some stability (in the shank area) to offer some support.

I can say outright after MUCH research and testing of competition that the #1 baby shoe for a learning to walk child is made by Stirde Rite in their Soft Motion collection. You can check out styles online and can go to your store for a fitting. It's so important to get shoes that fit properly as a child's walking gait is developed in the first 2.5 years of his/her life.  In addition, by having a child wear ill fitting shoes, it can cause knee/back/hip issues years down the line!
