I think you are offline - but hopefully you'll see this when you come back!
YES - I am completely freaking out about it too. No PPAF - and we are down to only 4 nursing sessions a day! Avery takes a lot of solids, she's STTN for months now... and she nurses quick. I've been taking Vitex for months, and just started drinking RRL tea to help. Now i'm worried that even when I get AF, I will have trouble getting pregnant because of my low BMI. Ordinarily I would be siked! LOL
We leave for vacation for 2 weeks in Aug - and when we get back I will go down to only 2/3 nursing sessions a day. Hopefully that will help start something, but if not we are going to completely wean at 1 yr. My husband is chomping at the bit to start trying again - and so am I but really think the benefits of the last couple months of BFing her outweigh TTC right now.
We have been really lucky with my supply, so we have plenty in the freezer to supplement her when I drop sessions in Aug. I just wish it had worked out that I didn't need to stop BFing to get my period again. Oh well... everyone's body is so different.
How are you??
Re: ***mrs.kcanne***
Hey! What's Vitex and RRL Tea? I agree completely that the benefits of BFing for 1 whole year outweight the need to TTC#2 for us right now. Though we're ready, and I do recognize how lucky we are to have BF for this long with few challenges. I too have a good freezer stash, a great freezer stash in fact, and I was originally really excited about that because I was starting to get lazy with pumping and figured it wouldn't be a big deal because of the freezer stash... come to find out this past week that I think I have that lipase issue with my milk! I had thawed some frozen milk from January to give her on Sunday night and it smelled weird, but that can be normal, so I tasted it... EW! It was awful! Tasted like drywall with a horrible after taste that was hard to get rid of. I have all my milk in a deep freezer so it's supposed to be good for 6-12 months in there. So I thawed milk from March and early July and all of it tasted bad to me, not AS bad as January, but still yucky.
So, I'm going to keep giving it to her if she'll keep taking it (maybe not the January stuff).
I cannot WAIT to be done pumping! I'm still nursing her around 4:30am, 6:30am, pumping 3x at work and then nursing her around 7pm (but sometimes it's for a very short time or we skip it completely depending on when she last had a bottle and how tired she is). I hope your doctor can help you gain some weight through targeted eating of extra calories. Maybe you can start having a carnation instant breakfast here and there just for extra healthy calories? Good luck!
OMG - That absolutely sucks about your freezer stash!! I thought you sent frozen milk to school with her each day? Has she been taking it?
Vitex is an herbal supplement that helps to get your body cycling again (only if your body is ready). It helps to reduce the effects the prolactin has on supressing ovulation. I think they might mention it in kellymom.com. Red raspberry leaf tea is just good overall for women's body - helps to regulate your cycle, reduce PMS, etc.
I hear you on the pumping. I used to pump 4 xs while at work... now she nurses at 7am, pump at 11am, pump at 3pm, and nurse at 7:30pm. I plan to drop to 1 pump after vacation which will be awesome. The day I don't have to pump at all will be celebrated!! But I also think I will miss nursing her when I stop... it actually makes me said to think about it.
So is Avery only taking 2 bottles while at day care, around 11am and 3pm? That's a 4 hour window between bottles. How did you know to go from 3 hours to 4 hours?
