We plan on doing our nursery in black and white and hot pink. We are buying black furniture-probably the black baby mod cadence crib from walmart. I plan on buying different black and white pattern crib sheets and maybe having a hot pink patchwork quilt made. Probably a black glider and curtains will probably be a black and white print-maybe damask. I think this will be a lot of fun but have a couple questions:
What do you think of buying the crib but not buying the matching furniture. Instead I was thinking of buying a used dresser (maybe off craigs) that is kinda vintage/shabby chic.
Second-We plan on the walls being mainly hot pink but I don't want them all solid hot pink. Any ideas?
Third-Any other ideas to throw in the mix. I am not super crafty but I plan on attempting some DIY projects such as her name and maybe some wall art to hang. I would love to hear from you ladies with any suggestions.
Here is a link I am using for inspiration:

Re: My nursery plans and questions
I am not a fan of matchy-matchy furniture, so I say definitely find a dresser that doesn't match the crib, You could always paint it white or light pink so that you don't have too much black going on in the room.
2 - I'm not creative with paint- but since you have so many other ideas for print black/white fabric, it might be best to just stick with hot pink walls like the inspiration nursery did, I love that one!
3 - I don't have anything specific but you could always throw another color in the mix to go with your Hot pink - White -Black combo. Maybe just Light Pink like I mentioned for the dresser, or Aqua would look good or a Lime green like the inspiration nursery used
I love that color combo!
I personally think you'd be fine without matching furniture, as long as it has the same "feel". I'd probably go with a white or black distressed furniture if you like the shabby chic feel. I also like the black/white/hot pink/light pink combo like in these pictures:
For the walls, I'd probably paint them a solid color if you'll have a lot of patterns throughout the room and use damask wall decals in a coordinating color. Or you could do 2-3 horizontal stripes to break up all of the color.
Super cute pics. Where did you find those. I love it.
What about doing some solid walls and then an accent wall with a large scale damask stencil that you lay out on the wall to look like a wallpaper pattern or in rows like stripes? That way you can use the same color paint. Or, you could always use the black damask wall decals.
I say don't buy the set, a room always has more interest when pairing pieces from different styles and colors.
oh good idea-thanks!
