i have some places you might be interested in visiting. theyre probably a little far for a day trip for you, but there is def enough in the areas to make at least a weekend of it!
first i have to plug my hometown
there is the soccer hall of fame, baseball HOF, fenimore art museum, farmers museum (an 1840ish farm/village), state parks, colleges, howe caverns (really neat underground caves), a couple breweries and wineries, fly creek cider mill (complete w/ ducks to feed), and tons of other stuff all w/in less than an hour of each other. i would rec waiting till the fall though - summer baseball camps over run the area and room rates (and waits in resturaunts) are ridiculous!

the link is to a childrens museum they are trying to start but it has the best listing of links for the area.
also cool is the finger lakes - even more state parks, a wildlife refuge, outlet shopping, wineries, the birthplace of womens rights movement (seneca falls), a racetrack (watkins glen), and again a bunch more that i just cant think of. oh and seneca falls is supposed to be the "real" bedford falls from "its a wonderful life." we didnt get to check out those sites when we were there but its supposed to be just like the movie!
i hope those give you some ideas. there is really so much to see in the whole region (everywhere you listed) that its hard to pick a few! have fun w/ your trips! we love getting out and seeing new places as long as we re somewhere new, like you are now! let me know if you want to know anything else. ![]()
Re: **kelly&marty**
We have some of that on our list!! Marty's mom is a huge Cub's fan, and his whole family are big baseball fans, so we are thinking when they come to visit we'll make a weekend trip up the the Hall of Fame and that area, and that will probably be this fall. We also had the finger lakes area on the list. Thanks so much! I'm going to copy it onto our list! It is kind of exciting to see lots of new things. I lived in NYC for 6 years, but I was a student and never really went anywhere else in the region, and I regret that. So I'm glad we're doing it now.
Thanks again!
