I went in for an NST yesterday after not taking Procardia for the whole day. Sure enough, while being monitored I had 5 contractions in 12 minutes. They weren't necessarily painful, and really what I've been experiencing for the past several weeks. My peri checked my cervix and guessed it was at 2cm. I panicked because last week it had been a wonderfully long 5cm. My blood pressure again shot through the roof. She sent me to the u/s room where they measured my cervix "for real," and it was indeed at 5cm. I was SO happy.
The Procardia invariably gives me a migraine, for which I've been taking Percocet. I don't want to be taking anything I don't need to. Because the contractions aren't causing "true labor" and aren't painful, she said I don't have to take the Procardia unless I want to. All in all, good news!
Anyone else just contract pretty much all the time, and that's just the way it is?
