TTC after 35

"Charting is so old-fashioned"

I was telling a friend of mine about my doctor's appointments/surgery/his recommendations/etc. yesterday and mentioned that he had told me to begin charting a few months back.  She immediately asked me "How old is your doctor?  Charting is so old-fashioned!".  I LOLed at that and went on to explain the usefulness of it all.  I don't know if she got it.

I figured you ladies would appreciate the humor here Smile

  • Some people have no clue...  I have been trying to get my sister to read TCOYF... she is 45 and wants kids.... she is living with a guy she will probably marry.... but she is in denial about her fertility....

All you can do is try to educate LOL

  • I think some people equate it with the church, so perhaps that's where the old fashioned thing comes from?

Shyn - Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot. You've got your hands full there, lol.

  • That is amusing--I wonder why she thinks it's old fashioned.

  • This just made me think of something else.  My parents suffered from secondary IF after having me and my mom had an HSG, charted, used clomid, and they even tried donor sperm.  It is kind of funny that so much of what they did in the 70's is still done today.  So, if charting is old-fashioned, I would say it is still in fashion because it works!

That's definitely possible - she is pretty religious so maybe the association comes from that.

I agree with CAT...I think people automatically associate it with the church...if they only knew how awesome it is to have such a better understanding of what your body is doing.

  • I'm all for "old-fashioned" things that help me feel some control in a out-of-my-control situation.

My doc doesn't find charts particularly useful, but I do, so I'm still charting.
