MIL gave Jack soda today

I usually love my MIL, she is absolutely great. However, this severely annoys me. She watched him this afternoon, and Jack kept looking at her soda so she gave him some. WTF?

I know, I know, it won't kill him. But still, WTF, MIL?

Re: MIL gave Jack soda today

  • My MIL does random crap like this too, and it irritates me so much.

I try my hardest to let it all go, because I know she means no harm, and I really do love the woman. But, dude. Why do they think this is okay??

  • i let DS lick some off my can when i'm drinking some.  just a bit, and not every time.  i also gave him a few tiny pieces of baked lays today because he was crabby, and they made him happy.

I think it's different when you, the mother, make this decision vs. your MIL making it for you. KWIM?

    Exactly this.

She did the same thing with frosting a few weeks ago.

  • Good thing he wasn't eyeballing someone's beer! Big Smile

LOL, SFIL said the same thing.

  • Ummm  smack smack!   Holy cow I would have gone off.  Yea, it won't kill him but she should not give him foods/drink that you don't already give him.  Out of respect.

  • Ugh, totally something my MIL would have done.  She was visiting when DS was 3 mos old and told me one evening "he sure loves oreos".  Seriously?!  She'd been giving him oreo filling during the day while I was at work.  I really wanted to strangle someone.  *deep breaths*

  • This makes me so glad that MIL doesn't drink soda, because I can totally see her doing something like this. It would irritate the crap out of me. And I sure as heck would tell her not to do that again.
  • Oh my, I would be so pissed!!!  MIL gives our nephew soda all the time and so I asked her before DD was even drinking other fluids besides bm to never give DD any soda at all.  She agreed but.........when DD sees my soda can or even soda in a glass she now points and screams at it as if she wants it or has had it before.  Up until 2 weeks ago, when MIL watched DD overnight, DD had never done this so I'm wondering if she let her drink some.

I agree w/ you, it's not like it will kill them but it's the point!

  • eh, who cares. if you like her, its hardly something you can't jokingly make a comment about and thats it.
