Amber teething necklaces

Anyone have any experience (good or bad) with these?  Up until today i hadn't even heard of them, but ran into a mom today that swears by them.  Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Swears by them as far as...?  Are they supposed to do something special?  The only ones I've seen are the round donut shape charm on a necklace.  Not really my style.

She claims that her daughter hasn't had any teething issues at all-no drooling, no pain, no chomping down on everything (her daughter is 18 months).  Her son who is 3 had awful ear infections and was a beast through teething and she wishes she had had this necklace for him.  The one her daughter was wearing was amber beads all the way around-wasn't bad looking.

We use them.  Inspired by Finn has some nice ones.  They def. seemed to take the edge off.  Actually got one for myself to help with back pain.
