DS has always been around 90th %ile for weight until around 6 months, when he dropped down to the 60%ile. I know that his being active and mobile contributes to the slower weight gain, but don't the curves already account for that? At his 9 month visit, he was down to under 25%ile...but is still growing taller (85%ile). He basically gained less than 1 pound since his 6 month visit.
The doctor didn't seem too concerned, but she was in a rush and was kind of in and out really fast (I had to point out DS's re-adhere'd circumcision for her to even notice it).
He still eats normally, 25-30 oz per day plus 2 meals and he doesn't seem hungry or anything. I just wanted to see if this seemed normal (other moms I spoke to suggested this was NOT normal). He doesn't look skinny...and still has his chunker thighs...actually most people tell me that he looks chubby.
Re: Dramatic slow down in weight gain...
The curves account for it to some degree, but remember that "mobility" isn't the same for every baby. There are plenty of not-so-mobile-yet 9 month olds contributing to the curve, you know?
DS gained less than 3 pounds between 6 and 9m (started crawling at 6m1w), which meant he went from the 95th to the 90th %ile.
As long as he's eating enough and the wet and poopy diapers keep coming, I wouldn't worry too much. You can always try to feed him more formula and/or solids, but if he doesn't eat them, there isn't much you can do.
He's a cutie, though! Good luck!
