I went to 4 garage sales today and they all had carseats for sale. One looked fairly new, they had very small children. However I wouldn't buy one because I don't know them and I don't know if it has been in an accident.
There was one down my street that was selling, for $10, a Century carseat, at least 8 years old, with a 3-pt. harness and the little tray that comes over the front. Horrible. It amazes me how precious people think their crap is.
It wasn't all a waste though, at that first garage sale I got a big bag of practially new books, 2 toys, some rolly trucks, a Melissa and Doug puzzle with all its pieces, and Adiri bottle, and some Mothering magazines for $5. Bonus!

I wanted to but they were BSC rednecks that live about 8 houses down, I am a scaredy cat when it comes to my own neighborhood. They were also selling a very-worn Superyard for the same price Walmart has it new.
Our town has a "once a year" garage sale. I'm told that there are cops that go to the ones with car seats, inspect them, and cut the straps if they are expired or banged up.
That's great! UGH i hate seeing car seats like that at yard sales, goodwill, ect.
There is an obviously expired century car seat that one of the parents of the older kids leaves at C's daycare. I hate looking at it knowing they use it daily.
