Babies: 9 - 12 Months

When did your baby drop to 4 bottles per day?

... and how many ounces total did that give him/her each day?

Thanks!!

  • about 4 1/2 -5 months and she was good about taking 20-24 oz then, now I struggle to get 16oz into her every day.

ETA: my dd is a garbage gut and will eat anything you put in front of her. If it comes off a fork, she's in heaven! Bottles just annoy her now. She's up to 3 meals a day, plus a snack somewhere in the day.

  • I think it was around 6 and a half months or so? I know that it was whenever she was consistently eating two meals a day (breakfast and dinner). She has about 28 oz. a day. HTH!

ETA: She still doesn't eat significant solid meals (she went through a period when she did), so i think that's why she's still eating 28 oz. of formula a day?

  • DD is eating about 24-25 oz a day (in 5 bottles, and it includes a dream-feed to get the minimum of 24 oz per day in her - suggestion of the pedi) ... but it's kind of a struggle to get her to take her bottle. She's never been a big bottle eater. We went to Speech Therapy for her and the therapist suggested to finish off a bottle by adding the leftover formula in a cup and putting rice cereal in there and giving it to her that way (so if it's a 5oz bottle, and she only takes 3oz from the bottle, we mix the remaining 2oz w/ rice cereal, put it in a cup, and give her the rest that way). Ugh ... it's just been a trying process trying to get her to drink her bottle. Solids, she loves, though.

I've been toying w/ the idea of dropping her down to 4 bottles per day ... I figured if I'm already finishing off the bottles by doing the cup method, I might as well drop 1 whole feeding altogether and just up the amount at each bottle.

I just wasn't sure if it is too early for her to only be having 4 bottles a day .... probably only equaling 22oz per day ... I asked the pedi and she said she needs to have a MINIMUM of 24-28 of formula per day.... so IDK if I'll ever be able to drop the 5th bottle!

  • Just in the last week he has had a few days where it's only 4 (well, 2 bottles at daycare and I nurse him twice)

  • Once he replaced a bottle with a solid feeding -- he was hard to win over to the solids, so not until after 9 months. He still has 4 bottles a day, total of 32 ounces.
