24 hour urine test

Does anyone know whether a UTI can affect the 24 hour test? I know it affects the dipstick tests, but am not sure about the 24 hour.  My protein was at 249 (a little too close for comfort to the 300 cutoff), and I'm on antibiotics for a UTI. 

 

Also, did anyone do a repeat test and find that their protein actually went down?  I just have a bad feeling that I'm on a downward spiral toward pre-e, since my protein and bp are currently borderline.  Thanks!

Mine when down when I was on hospital bedrest.  First it was 1009, and 3 days later it was 328, but then I was induced 2 days after that.

I don't know for sure if a UTI can affect the results and google is unclear. I know dehydration can affect the results (not that you asked lol ) but thats it.

With my 1st pregnancy my levels did go down - from over 500 at my first test to 350 after a little time on modified bedrest, so it is possible! My levels remained in the 350 range for the rest of my pregnancy (I was Dx'ed w/ preeclampsia at about 23 weeks).

With my current pregnancy my baseline was already about 210 so not off to the best start, but under 300 so yay, and the current levels are not thought to be pregnancy related (yay, but ick since that means something else may be going on).

Good luck and if they aren't already, ask for a repeat once you're off the antibotics.

Mine went down after a week on bedrest from 386 to 277. Doc says that it could be that the resting and laying on my side and drinking plenty of fluids was probably helping my kidney function.
