3D u/s of twins (same sac)

If you have the awesome opportunity to have twins in the same sac and have a 3D u/s pic of them together, can you post it for me? TIA!!

Re: 3D u/s of twins (same sac)

  • you mean the same gestational sac? not amniotic sac. (i just wouldn't call that an "awesome opportunity".) if so, i have one, but it's from 7w, so it's probably not what you mean...

  • yes gestational sac, and I only mean "awesome opportunity" as far as the 3D picture, since you can see both babies on the 3D. If they're in separate sacs you can't get a pic of the both of them together...not an awesome opportunity otherwise!

I also wonder why you want this - and have you tried to see if Google has a image of this "awesome opportunity"?

  • I see Kathleen Larson is one of your friends.  That's just awesome.
  • Not having twins but I went in for my regular 20 week u/s yesterday and was discussing with the u/s tech if they had any 3D pics of twins (they have a board of awesome u/s pics in the room) and she said that she hadn't been able to see it personally because it's rare for them to be in the same sac. She said she wished she could see one and that it would be really neat, so I just thought if anyone had a picture of this that I'd print it and bring it in for her to see next time.

Oh well then that makes it okay.  Go ahead, as away and then STEAL someone's photo to give to your OB.  KLASSY.

I tried to google it, but I think I'm using the wrong wording... I remembered that I saw someone's siggy on here that had a picture of this so I thought I'd post and see.

  • I would think a u/s tech would have access to pics of all those; she should have learned about them in school so she could recognize them when she saw them.

How would this be an awesome opportunity? If they are in the same amniotic sac they are momo twins and that is VERY high risk...

I have PLENTY of photos of my twins together and they weren't in the same gestational sac they are boy girl twins....

  •  Kathleen Larson is one of your friends???? OMG! BANISH her!

  • Wow ladies didn't think this was that crazy of a request. If you're going to be all offended by it then I'll just delete it and you can forget I asked. I'm a nurse and always appreciated the opportunity to learn things from others who had a unique situation and thought it would be nice to give this to another healthcare worker. Opportunities like this make us more knowledgable and improve our care to others. So sorry for asking I didn't realize this was such a nasty thing to do...

You never mentioned anything about printing the picture so you can show it around. I have a problem w this. If someone is nice enough to show you their pic, you should be nice enough to ask before you print it. ?

  • wow, I really hope she has seen a picture of this situation since she is an U/S tech and I am sure they covered this in her training.

I am sorry but this is beyond rude.  Someone isnt going to post their pic so you can print it off and pass it around. I hope you can see where we are coming from.

I'm a nurse also, which is why I thought your reason is strange and doesn't make sense.  U/S techs would have certainly seen these pics during their training, even if they haven't done an u/s scan of one of these twin pregnancies themselves.

By the way I don't know who this is?  I don't really know how "friends" work on this board, I've accepted a handful but don't know anything about them, don't even know how you communicate with them?

Im a nurse too...does that make it ok?

Here's a hint- we've created a private board because of people who have been taking our photos and printing them off...pawning them off as THEIR Children...so that is why you are getting this response....we no longer trust those who are friends w/ Kathleen Larson...and asking to print off someones photo is just weird

  • I find it hard to believe that a healthcare worker such as yourself would not be sensitive to coming on and asking strangers for their medical pictures.  Which you then planned on printing to give to your OB for their wall.  Even if someone had that in their sig at one time, I highly doubt that their intention was to entertain or educate you.  And quite honestly, I highly doubt any academic institution would endorse using signature pictures found on an internet chat board as educational.  You really don't have access to this type of information from a textbook/pubmed/scholarly journal?
  • Look, I am going to say that your request is misguided.  What you view as an awesome opportunity is very rare and dangerous.

If you're a nurse then you should know it's a violation of HIPAA to take someone's ultrasound picture (since that is part of their medical records) and share it with others without their permission (which is what you were going to do, since you asked to see the pic but didn't say what you planned to do with it.).

I was thinking the SAME THING!

  • ok to make things even- if we give you an u/s of this can we have some of your u/s photos to share with the world too?

You're exactly right, I wouldn't have printed it off without their permission. I actually was going to ask them some other questions for my own knowledge and also ask them if they would mind me printing off the pic (without personal info or anything) to give to my tech. It wasn't a sneaky thing I just didn't even get the chance before everyone screamed at me for it.

And my tech has actually not seen a picture of this, she has been a tech for 20 years, the 3D imaging was not around when she was training, so it is relatively new to her. For mono twins they are sent out to a high risk OB here and so she has never seen anything like this.

ITA..I do not want pictures of myself or my child (u/s pic or not) printed without my permission and I think most mamas will agree. The multiples board is not here for singleton pregs to come gawk at as so rare, ect. And the type of pic your requesting is that of a very high risk preg...not some kind of freak show.

I'm pretty sure most, if not all, hospitals have a medical/research library.  And since she is at an OB's office, I'm SURE she could get access to this information.

Maybe if you had explained your reasons FIRST instead of just coming in and asking for an 'awesome opportunity' you might have been given a different reception.  People often treat families with multiples like free freak shows and come up to us askig all manner of personal and rude questions.   So of course it's going to annoy us.

  • I would have no problem with someone wanting my u/s photos without my personal information obviously. I guess I'm not as guarded about it. Sorry if you had someone take your picture and claim it was theirs, that is very odd and obviously this wasn't what I was doing. In the same right I will allow any students at my hospital to watch me deliver for thier own experience, as I know I was eternally grateful when I was given this opportunity. Sorry if you think that makes me a bad person.

I wasn't giving her the picture for their board, I just thought she would appreciate being able to see this.

And yes I realize that twins sharing the same sac is a high risk and dangerous situation and I appologize for maybe not wording it correctly. I just think that it is a very neat thing to see both babies together with our new technology, it truly is a miracle.

So again, sorry that this was such an awful request, I wasn't intending to offend anyone or make a huge scene. I'll delete it and be on my way.

here's the problem. You did not ask permission or give the reason you wanted the pic before asking for it.

If in fact you are not a fraud I would like to explain myself. Kathleen was a fake who stole pic's from peoples blogs and created a huge story.

  • Thank you for apologizing. We're very guarded since the Katheleen situation. I hope you have a H&H9!

  • Your request and the fact that others like you come onto this board and make requests and do whatever this Kathleen person did with pictures is very scary to me and against HIPAA (you should know this is you are a nurse). ?It is also VERY frustrating to me as a woman in her first pregnancy with identical twins. ?You and those like you are the very reason that people on this board have created a private board (and I don't blame them), yet the whole experience takes away from those of US who ARE pregnant with twins, have a ton of real life important questions about our pregnancies, and come here to seek the help/advice/relief we need. ?What is with the lurkers? ?I don't get it. ?This is why we get over 100 looks at our questions and only 3 answers. ?Really annoying!!! ?Please stick to the boards that apply to you and let your u/s tech find a way to see whatever "awesome pics" she wants to see on her own. ?I'm a psychologist and I wouldn't EVER ask for anyone's personal medical/health information over the internet. ?Not cool!
  • Just wanted to say that I wasn't as offended by your request as everyone else (even though I think your wording was a little off). I'd like to give you the benefit of the doubt and commend you for wanting to learn about pregnancy situations that most people are completely ignorant about.

I have pictures of both of my babies in the same sac, one of which you can see on my blog:

    https://estherslittlewonders.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

However, the fact that my babies shared a sac and a placenta almost cost one or both of them their lives - so you will understand that people might take offense if someone sees something as a "medical curiosity" which almost claimed their child's life.
