Would a trip to a vineyard be odd?

I just came across a website for a local vineyard, and thought going out to do a tasting on Saturday might be fun to do with DH.  But I'm thinking - maybe not with the baby?  I can get my mom to watch her, but not if she knows we're going to a vineyard.  (She was married to an alcoholic, and anytime we drink she thinks we're going to become alcoholics.  *sigh*)

  • That sounds like a lovely trip, but if it were me I wouldn't take a baby if I was going to do wine tasting.

  • I wouldn't take your LO either...but maybe just explain to mom that you are going for the atmosphere, food, and company. Which vineyard are you going to (I live in Omaha too!) I hear James Arthur and Soaring Wings are very pretty. My mom is the same way. We went to Rick's Boatyard and when we returned she side-eyed us until we went out the door. DH stayed sober, I had a glass of wine b/c it was half-price. Still, she thinks this will lead to alcoholism...it's really too bad because wine is damn tasty!!

  • I was thinking about Soaring Wings.  I've bought JA wines before, and I find them to be really oaky.  Even so, I've heard it's pretty out there.  Soaring Wings' website doesn't look terribly picturesque, but maybe it is.  We would definitely be going for the experience, not to get plastered.  We love doing stuff like that.
