High-Risk Pregnancy

weird phone call with the meter people

I got 5 error strips from one bottle of strips, so I called to see if they could send me a replacement strips or if the problem might be my meter, or whatever.

The lady had me do a test thing- holding down both the arrows until a number popped up (H 61). No idea what that means. The woman said, "Hmm, are you feeling okay?" and I said, "Yes, fine..."

Then she said my strips were probably compromised and she was overnighting me some new ones. Sweet. But, now I'm worried that the H 61 number is bad, and I didn't think to ask her on the phone! Anybody got any ideas?

I'm torn on if I should go to the pharmacy and get a new box of strips before the ones from the company ship... I have a few left to get me through until the new ones come, but if they are bad then it's sort of pointless to test... but with the free ones and a new box from the pharmacy, I'd have way more strips than I need to get through the end of the pregnancy. ugh!

  • accu-chek aviva. I tested the strips once with the control solution, so I think those are okay... but maybe my meter is off? I don't know, I'm going to ask the OB if I can try one at the office tomorrow- new meter, new strips and compare it to my old meter and old strips and see what happens.
  • Good thinking - anytime you go in for lab work, you should have them test your blood glucose and compare with your meter at that exact time - gives you a great idea of how accurate your meter is!
