Does your child know.....

This is the first time on this board and it seems to fit me, so here I am.

Do your children know or can they tell that you are pregnant very early on?

My son has been acting very very strange for past couple of weeks and I can't for the life of me figure out why other than I am pregnant.  Is that silly?

  • I don't think DC can have a 6th sense that you're pg beginning with conception (which would have been a few weeks ago for you).  I do think they start to pick up on the changes your body goes through as far as your belly getting bigger early on -- my DD seemed to start purposedly touching my belly once it started to get a bump.  Now she definitely takes notice of it.

No, she never seemed to act differently towards me or know until we told her.

  • My DD was only 5 months old when I found out I was pregnant. She then went through a horrible phase (waking at night, not napping, clingy, cranky, etc.) that I swear started the day I found out I was pregnant. I was convinced she knew something was different. I have no idea if that's true, though, or if it was just a weird coincidence. I guess I'll never know.

Now she just likes to give kisses to my belly! :)

  • I don't think DS (17months) knows. He has been a little extra clingy lately, but I think that is more a phase he is going through (especially since 8 teeth are coming through right now), and he does it with both me and DH. As for the belly, he still tries to jump all over me, so I don't think he really notices that either! I have been discouraging it more and more b/c it is really starting to hurt.
