Co-sleeping

how do you do it? and how long do you plan on doing it?

I know there are different ways. Right now, DD sleeps in our room right beside my side of the bed in a bassinet, although she usually ends up sleeping in between us on a changing pad/portable bed type thing that we have if she is too fussy. She usually has a feeding somewhere from 3-4 am, but she then wants to stay awake. The last few nights, I have been up with her, trying to get her back to sleep for about 2 hours. But then I put her beside DH, he talks to her and cuddles her a little and she goes right to sleep. I guess she is already Daddy's little girl.

Re: Co-sleeping

  • I am not sure that my way is the safest way, but we've been doing it since DD was born. I sleep on my back with her next to me with my arm under her (like I am holding her, but she is laying on the bed). She is in between DH and me, but my arm separates her and DH. It makes it very easy to nurse her like this, and we both sleep pretty well (she sleeps great). I plan on doing it until 5 months, but who knows...you'll see that we are having sleeping problems from my post below.

  • awww how precious...I put Ella next to me on our sides...I have a pillow inbetween us and DH .He isn't aware of her when he sleeps so she is no where near him...However DD is put to bed in crib 1st and is only brought into bed if she wont go to sleep...but it's easy she can just latch on when she wants..

  • K was sleeping on my chest in the very beginning and quickly we transferred her to a little bed that went in between DH and I. Once she outgrew that we moved her to the bassinet but she would end up back in bed laying between us. Now we pretty much have her in her crib for most of the night and she may spend a few hours with us in the morning snuggling and napping.
  • DD sleeps on a cloth-covered waterproof pad between me and DH, with her head in line with ours so the covers can't go over her face.  We slip her into the crib at the foot of our bed sometimes for spousal cuddle time.

She sleeps sprawled out.  Not really a cuddler.
