"Morning" sickness questions

How many of you got sick? When did you start feeling that way? Was it only at certain times, or all day? And most importantly, when did it go away?!?! ;)

I started feeling sick in the 5th week. It has gotten progressively worse during the 6th week. It lasts all day/night, and is worse in the morning and night.

I'm taking zofran and phenergan, and I sometimes take b6. I just started my folgard vitamin yesterday in addition to my PNV, and my RE is hopeful it might help some since it'll be a regular dose of b6.

Re: "Morning" sickness questions

  • I had waves of nauseousness around 5/6 weeks then it progressed into full blown morning sickness and lasted until 16 weeks. I did better in the morning, 4pm hit and it was all down hill from there, hungry, but couldn't keep anything down. I ate when I could and didn't worry about what it was. I was given Zofran and phenegran (sp?) around 9 weeks, Zofran took the edge off, I saved the phenegran when it was really bad. I think around 13 weeks I would have a good day where I didn't get sick, but then the next I would, slowly I kept getting more and more days where I didn't get sick. Finally at 16 weeks, it went away completely. I had to pretty bad from what the doctor tells me, I lost 10-15 lbs and didn't start gaining until 18 weeks.

  • Like you, I started feeling sick in the 5th week. It got a lot worse during the 6th week. During the 7th week, it completely disappeared. I've had no morning sickness since the very beginning of week 7 ****knock on wood****
I hope yours goes away soon or you're able to find something that works. It's definitely not easy.

  • Mine lasted from about 6 to 18 weeks. Like you, it was all the time. Like you, I took Zofran and sometimes Phenergan (not often, because it made me too sleepy to care for my DD).

I hope it gets better. Just eat what you can when you can - eating regularly will help to keep some of it at bay. And eat what sounds good - during my first pg I lived on McDonald's hamburgers for several weeks because that was the only thing that didn't disgust me - strange, right?
  • I had MS from about week 8-16.  It started decreasing between weeks 13 and 16 and eventually left all together.
  • I started getting "morning sickness" at around 6 weeks.

I always got it first thing in the morning and would always throw up. Then I would feel nausea through out the day.

At some point during the rest of the day I would always throw up again.

Sometimes before lunch, at lunch, before dinner or after dinner or right before I went to bed.

There was never a day that I didn't throw up.

I was sick my entire pregnancy.  I even threw up the morning of my delivery of the boys.

As a side note I was the exact same way when I was pregnant with my daughter.  Thankfully with her I always threw up in the morning was down for about an hour and then was usually okay.  Sometimes I would get an upset stomach but it would go away rather quickly.  I also threw up the morning of her delivery.  I am consistant if nothing else.

My doctor's were not willing to give me drugs to help me with it - so I suffered through it.

  • I only 'got sick' a few times, but I felt nauseous pretty much all day from week 6 to around week 13/14.  I still get a little gaggy in the morning now or if I smell something bad, but truth be told I've always had a weak stomach.  It's nowhere near as bad as it was though.

I did try the b6, but sometimes the pill itself would make me gag.  I found that I had to keep something in my stomach and that was the best cure, hard as it was to do sometimes.  I pretty much allowed myself to eat whatever sounded good, which wasn't much.  This included cheetos and buttered noodles.  I also drank a lot of lemonade, which helped (water was making me gag too).

Good luck, it will get better!

  • Mine started at week 5 and was absolutely horrible!! It lasted all day and then one Sunday morning on week 13 I was perfectly fine and have been ever since. I took some nausea meds starting at week 9 that let me eat a meal in the afternoon, but it does get better! :) Just keep your head up!
