2 years olds and naps

Does your 2 year old nap?

DD has been skipping naps some days.  We finally took away the bottle last night so it isn't easy to put her down for a nap in her crib.  I could just let her cry and make her take a nap without the bottle but today I let her lay in our bed and watch a movie.  She fell asleep. Should I just switch to quiet time and let her watch a movie in our bed everyday during naptime and if she needs to sleep she will or should I put her in the crib?  What is your 2 year old doing?

I am asking because DH wants her to nap in the crib but I don't see a problem with letting her relax and watching a movie.

  • Both my 2 yo and 5 yo nap for AT LEAST 1.5-2 hours everyday- and they are in bed by 7 pm.

  • Our two year old naps every day between noon and 2pm (or later).  He also sleeps approx 12 hours per night.

I would stick to crib and nap/quiet time.  Watching a movie is not the same thing at all.  Growing brains need time to rest completely.

  • My dd is not in her crib any more and will either have quiet time her in room and play or take a nap.  If she just wont lay down or have some quiet time I take our travel dvd player sit it on the kitty condo in the hall way and trun on a movie.  It gets her to lay down until the movie is over or she falls asleep and I can get the quiet time I need durning the day.  I also will do it at bed time if needed but use it as the very last thing I try.
  • She definitely naps.  I try to make myself nap too since I'm not getting great sleep at night.  GL with losing the bottle- Lindley's still got her paci which is now restricted to bed- it will be rough to ditch it.

  • Yes, he still naps every day. He sleeps 12 hours at night and naps 2 1/2 hours during the day. He is a total grump when he doesn't get the sleep he needs.
