Question about crib skirt

I am having a crib skirt custom made from Etsy.  The seller said the standard drop is 11", but it could be made longer.  Since crib mattresses are adjustable heights, how long should the drop be?  I want the skirt to be touching the floor, or at lease close to it.  Thanks!

Re: Question about crib skirt

  • It depends on your crib... Did you measure?
  • If you want the crib skirt to hit the floor, you are just supposed to put the mattress on the lowest setting and leave the drop side down all the time until baby starts to pull up.  If you have the crib skirt done to a custom & longer size, it's going to drag on the floor and look sloppy when you do put the mattress on the lowest setting.

  • Our crib isn't in yet, but it won't be put together for quite a while, since we will be moving before LO arrives.  I didn't know if maybe the mattress heights were somewhat universal.

  • Most I've found by searching have a bigger drop than that.  I just made mine and it's 15 1/2 inches.  It touches the floor right now at the higher mattress setting but NOT the highest.  Once we lower the mattress I'll just tuck some of the skirt underneath.  I like them longer though.
  • Definitely measure to see how it fits your crib.

With DD#1's crib, on the lowest setting, we can't use the crib skirt at all because the mattress is 3 inches off the floor. On the middle setting, it pretty much touched the floor and on the high setting it was a ways off.

With DD#2's crib, on the 2nd setting (DH didn't put it on the highest. not sure why...) it's about 12in off the ground.
