Crib bumper question

I recently bought our crib and it has a solid back (no slats).  I also bought the crib bedding set that included a bumper.  Everything that I have read says to make sure to tie the crib bumpers to the cribs tightly for the safety of baby.  My dilemma is that I am not able to tie the crib bumper in the back b/c it doesn't have slats.  Does anyone else have this problem or have any idea of a solution???

I'd use a couple of pieces of velcro to ensure that it will stay put.  If you put a painters tape on your crib first then an adhesive backed velcro over that, you won't have to worry about the adhesive on the velcro ruining your crib.

  • We have a solid backed crib and honestly a bumper is NOT a good idea with these.  Unless yours is different the back will make the bumper unable to fit well at all, no matter what you try to do.  We didn't know that until we already had a bedding set for DS so we put the bumper in there for "decoration" but it was out as soon as DS was sleeping in his crib, which wasn't until he was 5-6 months old anyway.

It's a tough call to make because some people love bumpers.  We just don't think it's worth the trouble after what we dealt with using DS's bedding so we're not getting a bumper at all for the new baby.
