Last night as soon as we would lay her down she would start grunting and groaning and straining. At first I thought maybe she had to poop, but she didn't and frankly I was afraid of what might come out if she did! She would do this for a bit then fall asleep for about 5 or 10 min and start up again. As I said she did this all. night. long. I think maybe she may have stopped for about a two hour period or so (or I fell asleep and stopped hearing it). Any idea of what is going on? Is this normal behavior for a 3 week old? She doesn't do it every night, but it has happened before and I worry that she doesn't get good sleep because I know I don't!
Re: So.. why is my child grunting/groaning/straining ALL NIGHT LONG?
DS #2 used to do that... can't remember when he stopped doing it, but I do remember that swaddling his legs tightly really helped keep him sleeping longer because as he was grunting/groaning his legs were moving around keeping him awake longer.
Good luck!! It does get better... the beginning is the hardest part!
DS is in our room and I slept with a pillow over my head for 2 weeks cause he was sooo noisy!
DS does this all the time. He's 3 weeks. Generally he does poop after his grunting-the child can poop up to 10 times a day!
As soon as I dig out our monitors I'm moving him to his room-all his grunting keeps me awake at night!
ditto! We slept so much better when we moved him out of our room! I just kept the monitor LOW so I could only hear crying, not grunting!
