Help DH and I solve a disagreement. We are going to put a long shelf along the wall with the crib against it. It's not a very deep shelf, only a few inches. It's mostly for decoration. We'll probably put a few little pictures on it or display a few books, etc on it. We also made a wooden train to hang on the wall. DH wants to put the shelf up high, like 2 ft from the ceiling or maybe less and have the train on the wall below it. I would rather put the shelf lower, maybe at eye level (adult not kid) and have train on the wall above it. What do you think?
Re: shelf on the wall
do you mean that the shelf will be above the crib? i would not do this... aren't you concerned that something on shelf would fall on baby.
if this is not what you mean please ignore me!
I don't think I would put a shelf above the crib. I can see how that will look pretty but I would go with something else. Something could fall on the baby.
But about your question, I would put the train above the shelf.
The shelf would span almost the whole wall and would be nailed to the wall. I also was concerned of things falling, so I definitely wouldn't place anything on the shelf above the baby's crib. Anything on the shelf would be off to the side. I'll also make sure to have it high enough so he can never reach it. I figured that the shelf was safer than my original idea of placing a quilt above the crib, which could fall and probably suffocate a little baby.
