2nd Trimester

baby stress

Is anyone else's DH never really been around babies? Mine's even scared to hold them.  My BFF asked us to be Godparents.  He seriously said, "Only if I don't have to hold her about the water."  He'll hold her for like 3 minutes and start to get real uncomfortable.

Anyways, my BFF had her baby in April.  She's super good nature.  Really, she only gets fussy in the late afternoons for about 45 minutes.  Plus, this is the only baby he'll hold...so this made me relax.

On the other hand, our neighbors (who are our age and good friends) just had a boy 2 weeks ago.  He's got serious gas issues and is super fussy.  We walked in and my DH looked like deer in headlights.  So...back to being stressed. Great.

Re: baby stress

  • My DH hasn't been around baby's much either. I think at first he may be scarred to hold him/her because they are so tiny. But I think he will get over that the first time he has the LO in his arms.

  • DH has never changed a diaper. His dad never changed any of his or his brothers diapers. Crazy! DH knows that won't be the case with him!

One a separate note, I've never changed a girl diaper. I used to babysit babies a lot when I was younger, but always boys.?

Girls are way easier, IMO.  They can't use their hose to spray you.

  • My first husband had NEVER held a baby and neither had I, until our daughter came.  He was a natural in 3 days.  I took a little longer, lol.
  • My husband is threatening to never change a poo diaper.  He said that his father changed one, and he used a hose to wash off the mess.  He is dead serious about that story.  Everytime he brings it up I cry.  I couldn't be more stressed about this poopy issue.
