I know that kids music is not preferred for most people and I honestly got sick and tired of our CD of children's songs after the first week. I love love LOVE Sandra Boynton (Tessie reads MY copy of SnugglePuppy - DH gave it to me for Valentine's Day one year) and I downloaded "Blue Moo" and "Philadelphia Chickens" from iTunes last week - they are AWESOME!
"Blue Moo" is 50's and 60's-era sounding songs, with songs sung by Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys (Speed Turtle), Sha Na Na (Gorilla Song) and B. B. King (One Shoe Blues - love him). Davy Jones from the Monkees sings "Your Personal Penguin", it is so cute! All of the songs on Blue Moo are sung by people from that era, it's really fun to listen to. Especially when the Uninvited Loud Precision Band goes to the grocery store.
"Philadelphia Chickens" is a little more contemporary, but just as good and Meryl Streep, Laura Linney, Eric Stolz (he sings Snuggle Puppy!) and Patti LuPone all sing on it. Tessie and I dance around the kitchen a lot to this CD, hee. Both CDs have books with them that are on Amazon, but I just downloaded the CDs to have them and will get the books later. I just put "Dog Train" and "Rhinoceros Tap" in my shopping cart - I cannot WAIT to get them!
Re: Rave Rave RAVE: Sandra Boynton's "Blue Moo", "Philadelphia Chickens"
Mine, too! We read that one and The Going to Bed Book every night. We usually read Opposites and Horns and Toes some time during the day as well.
