I've been reading up on a lot of different things and I read somewhere the sooner you paint the better. That way, when the baby comes home, the chance on inhaling any fumes will be pretty much gone.?
When did you start choosing paint colors and start painting??
Married my BEST FRIEND on December 1, 2007.
Started TTC in March 2008.
Found out we were expecting our first child in October 2008 - but had a m/c in December 2008 - resulting in a d&e.
Met with a RE in May 2009 and set a plan - but conceived unexpectedly on our own!
Our precious little Sophia was born on February 9, 2010!

Re: when did you start painting your nursery?
We are painting ours in the next two weeks.
I asked about painting yesterday on 1st Tri. Is it safe for pregnant women to paint? tanya8 - sounds like you did with no problems. We have several rooms in our apartment that need to be painted and I was thinking what better time than now. I did get one rec to buy low or no VOC paint - whatever that means?
I was about 7 weeks when we painted. But the only reason we did it that early was because we had a painter coming to do the livingroom, so we just had him do the nursery while he was there.

We painted ours about 3-4 weeks ago. We used Zero VOC paint though (volatile organic compound)...that basically means that it does not "off gas" or give off noxious fumes/chemicals. Regular paint not only smells while wet, but it also will "off gas" chemicals after it is dry into the air that can harm the environment. Zero VOC (and even low VOC) paint either eliminates (or lowers in the case of low VOC) those compounds so it doesn't smell bad and it also doesn't harm the environment. I work in the design/construction field and we are finding that people and owners are leaning in that direction more often now. The Zero VOC paint we bought (a Ben Moore product) was only $4 more a gallon than the regular standard latex so we thought it was worth it.
Olympic is only about $20 at Lowe's. It has no VOCs and goes on great! I know that Behr has Freshaire but it was like $40 a gallon and only came in 20 colors.
Good Luck
