I am due on the 25th. I know I prob. won"t make it that long but am in a total panic about shopping/decorating since I have a bad feeling I will be putp on bed rest. Is anyone else feeling this way?
I am not due til 1/6/10, but I will be 38 weeks the week of Christmas. These are my first children so I figure we are not putting up a tree or any decordations this year unless DH will do it and as far as shopping for Chritmas goes I plan to get it done early and mail what I can off and do a lot of shopping on-line and gift cards this year too! I say, make it easy on yourself!!!
I was due on 12/22 last year and the babies arrived on 11/22.
I can say with all honesty that both DH and I almost completely forfeited Christmas last year. We put up the fake tree 2 weeks after the babies came and did quick decorations during nap time. We bought no presents (for eachother, family or the babies). We were SO tired that I didn't even have the energy (or money with two babies!) to online shop and my family didn't care at all. They were just happy to bring us food and snuggle the little ones.
It was the best Christmas ever -- it was back to the basics! I guess my point is not to stress, when the time comes you will just care about your babies.
My official due date is 1/11/10 but I am planning to be out of commission for Christmas, whether I'm huge and miserable, on bed-rest, in the hospital delivering, or at home with two new infants. We have kinda decided that Christmas will become a no-travel holiday this year. Usually we go to at least 3 family celebrations on Christmas day, and that's not counting the days surrounding it! This year, everyone is coming to us!!
As far as gifts go, we are starting early and spending way less. Husband loves to bake his molasses cookies... so that will probably be everyone's gift
I'm not due until 2/8, but the doctors say they would like me to make it until 34 weeks, which is 12/28. I feel the same way. I am afraid that I am going to be put on bedrest and not have my house in order. I've already started cleaning out the nursery closet because that is a huge task. I don't want to jump the gun on decorating until I know that sexes, which will not be until Sept. This is sort of like a 'stuck in limbo' time period. I'm trying to research things in Baby Bargins so when we register it goes faster and smoother.
I'm due 12/24. Last year I had my Christmas shopping done in one weekend, in October. I plan to do the same this year. We're not sure, but we don't think we're really "doing" Christmas this year. We'll have parents over to our house, but that'll be about it. Normally we go to my mom's house on Christmas Day and there's about 25 relatives there, I don't think it'll be a good idea to have 2 NB's around all of those people during cold and flu season.
my due date was 12/27 last year and my babies were born at 39 weeks(by scheduled c-section) on 12/22, we were in the hopital on christmas which i had all the christmas i needed with the babies. we put our tree and decorations up the week b-4 thanksgiving. and we did most of our shopping in oct and early nov.
i never actually was put on bed rest, but I thought i would be a lot more miserable than i actually was. i was caring logs in to put in the fireplace the night b-4 i went to the hospital, while my husband was at work, so just relax and enjoy everything will work out and it will be the best christmas ever.
I'm not *due* until 1/16/10, but am fully expecting to go early, and 37 weeks would be 12/26/09....We *have* to do some Christmas, Santa etc since our oldest two (especially DD #1) understand....my mom lives in our neighborhood, and my IL's will come up the day after xmas instead of us going down there...
I was due on 12/30 of last year. 38 weeks for me was 12/16. Which is the date that we schedule our c-section and we made it. I came come from the hospital the Saturday before christmas.
I made sure we decorated and had a christmas because I have a 2 year old daughter (well she was 20 months at the time). I felt like just because mommy was pregnant it shouldn't ruin her holiday fun. My husband did all that.
We do all or most of our shopping online and it arrives via ups/fedex etc...
My husband did most of the wrapping. We didn't go crazy on our DD - spent about 100 total. Her grandparents went crazy for her.
Also people will understand. When we exchanged gifts or gave gifts people thought we were crazy to even bother about the holiday. We always got told we have more important things going on.
We also have a tradition where we go to my parents christmas eve and drive 3 hours to his parents christmas day.
When we told them we were pregnant with twins at 12 weeks we made it clear that we didn't know where or how we would stand with the babies. Therefore they would be coming to us depending on the health of the babies.
If they were born early or in NICU etc... we might not want to take the risk. They understood - they had no choice.
My family ended up bringing the party to our house christmas eve. They brought the food, we proved the house, the tree & the fire place. The boys slept the entire time. No one even got to hold or see them. His family drove down christmas morning. His parents cooked the entire meal and then cleaned up. At first it seemed overwhelming - but some postives came out of it. My SIL was here to help me, my DD got to play with her cousin and the added bonus they left all the leftovers for us. We got many of meals out of that.
If you are going to have a c-section and the doctors feel like you are going to make your date (mine did, I had the prefect pregnancy and made the c-section date) talk them into scheduling early. One doctor refused to schedule it - but at my next appointment the other doctor agreed and felt since I was due so close to the holidays we should schedule now. The reason being was vacation etc....
Sorry this is so long - don't stress and don't worry. Your job is to take care of yourself and those babies. If you don't want to decorate don't and don't feel obligated to run and take those babies out because it is a holiday. People should come to you!
