I hit 20 pounds today...

and I'm not upset.  I thought I would be, but honestly when I look at myself (minus my arms), I think I look awesome and am confused on where the 20 pounds actually are. 

I feel like weight gain during pregnancy has taught me that weight is only a number.  This has made me realize that after Henry is born I shouldn't strive for a certain number, but for a body I am proud of.

That's my epiphany of the day.

I was 18 pounds up at my 20 week appointment, so I'm sure I'll be over 20 this Friday. I'm really hoping to stay under 40 for the whole pregnancy, but we'll see. I've always had trouble losing weight, so I imagine a good number of these will be with me for quite a while

I'm glad to see someone embracing their weight gain.  It's one thing to worry if someone is gaining because they are scarfing down a ton of junk food, but if you're (as in a general "you" not you personally) doing what you're supposed to, let your body do what it needs to do!  You look fantastic!!!

You look wonderful Amy!  I hit 20 lbs last week (at 23 weeks) and I figure its all boob and baby.  Robert is a big boy so I know that I'm probably going to end up gaining around 40lbs or so.

First of all, you look adorable! And secondly, I agree with your philosophy. I rarely weighed myself before I got pregnant, instead basing my body image on how my clothes felt, how I felt I looked in them, and how toned I looked/felt. I've worn the same size since college, so whenever my clothes started to feel a little snug, I knew it was probably time to lay off the ice cream after dinner and hit the gym a little harder. In the meantime, my weight tended to fluctuate between 5-7lbs from month to month and year to year (and sometimes day to day, LOL). You've definitely got the right attitude.

you look fabulous girl!  I already passed you in the numbers...lol.  I think most of it is hiding in my boobs.  Great post though, I have been feeling the same way.  I am very happy with my appearance now!
