I am trying to decide if the 3d ultrasound is worth the $. My insurance doesn't cover it so that will be about $100 out of my pocket & I know I could probably use that money elsewhere. Just wondering from you ladies that had one done-was it worth it? & for those of you who aren't having one-do you regret/ wish you did?

Trying again..
We will not be having a 3d u/s. I think if we were unable to find out the sex of our baby then we would have done the gender assesment which costs 100.00 for 5 min. Really expensive, I think!
I'm really excited to meet our little girl and I think the surprise for us will be whose features the baby has. I'm looking forward to that. Plus the cost is also too much for me. I would rather spend that on baby cloths:)
I'm getting one, I think they are amazing. Not as just a chance to see my baby (though there's that too), but to see my baby developing in the womb. My husband is fascinated by them.
It's also an opportunity for our families to see an ultrasound, since they can't come to the others. When our parents had us people didn't get ultrasounds at all, so this new technology is unbelievable to them.
I am getting one around 27 weeks. We had a bad experience with the lady that did our anatomy scan, she was very unfriendly and gave us two pictures of the baby (an arm and the feet). Needless to say we were disappointed with the whole experience.
We have to pay $165 and that's for a full hour and they give you a whole bunch of pictures and a DVD of the scan. Plus, my family can come with us. We can have up to 10 people in the room. So, we decided to have our scan on our one year wedding anniversary in August.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I wasn't planning on doing one, but my mom lives in NY and is coming to visit for a long weekend in August. She has been a bit sad that she has missed most of my pregnancy. I'll be at 30 weeks when she is here and my OB and I discussed doing one so that mom could have a surprise viewing of her granddaughter. I plan on taking her out for breakfast & then swinging by my doctor to "pick something up". Once we get there, I'll have the 3D u/s. If it weren't for her being here, I would have saved the $175 though.
I'd rather spend my money on something for the baby. I think 3d ultrasounds are a waste.

My other baby is still a baby! Baby Boy 11-30-11
