I am in the market for a new vehicle and I think I have narrowed it down to these two. Anyone have either? I am looking for both positive and negative feedback. Thanks ladies!
We have a Honda pilot and we love it, but are in the middle of getting rid of it. It has worked great with two kids, we keep the third row down constantly which means terrific storage, and the girls are in the middle row in the middle seat and behind the passenger seat. But we tried to get a third car seat in, and it just doesn't work (DH and I are both tall, and a rear facing seat behind the driver means that the driver has to be uncomfortably close to the steering wheel). We are in the process of trading it in for a minivan. I'll be sad to see it go. So something to consider if you are thinking of a third kid down the line.
We have a 2005 Highlander and honestly although it's a great car, it's too small for all of our twin stuff. We took it on vacation last year and had it packed to the ceiling.
When our other car died a few months ago, we got a Honda Odyssey which seriously is the best car I have EVER owned. The trunk space is incredible in the van.
However, the new Highlander has been remodeled and my Dad has one. My DH, parents and our twins took it out of town a few months ago and the third row seats are roomy. Just to warn you, if the third row seat is up, there is very limited space left in the trunk for a double stroller.
Those were our top 2 choices, and we liked the look of the Highlander better, but ended up with a Pilot and I love it. It is so much roomier.
The Highlander can really comfortably sit 4. The middle row center seat (that folds down) is for someone super small and isn't very comfortable. The third row is really tight. I made my husband crawl back there and he looked like a clown in a clown car all smooshed up. It also only has 2 seatbelts in the 3rd row. So, comfortably sit 4, total potential is 7.
The Pilot is wider and longer, and is more comfortable for all passengers. The 3rd row has 3 seat belts, and it has so many extra little conveniences for families that are really thought out. Honda's also have great resale values and don't require much maintenance.
Re: Does anyone own a Honda Pilot or Toyota Highlander?
I have a Hybrid Highlander... LOVE IT! Gas milage is good, comfort level is GREAT. Have had it for about 2 1/2 years and have had no troubles so far.
My advice is to get the third row seats. We didn't think we would want it, but there have been several occasions where we wish we had it.

Good luck in your choice!

I love my Pilot :-)
