My name is 3 sylables and starts and ends with an "A," same with DD1 and DD2. DD1 was kind of on purpose and DD2 was more of a fluke- I just loved her name. Now that DD3 is due in 95 days I feel like I need to keep with the "theme" of our names. I don't want her to feel bad later in life because her name isn't like the rest of ours. Yes, I know that this is rather stupid BUT I was dumb like that when I was little. If we were having a boy it wouldn't be an issue but we are having another girl so here it is... The issue at hand. I do have a favorite name that fits our "theme" but I haven't really looked at any other names. SO anyway, is anyone else having a lame issue like this and what are you doing about it. Or, just in general, what do you think of this stupid issue of mine? TIA!
Re: Girl name "theme"
My aunt had 9 children and all of their names began with J. It was pretty confusing to keep them straight.
If you already have a name that you love picked out that follows your "theme", thats great but I dont think your daughter will feel left out an any way if you name her something different than her sisters.
Now Im curious what 3 names you liked that all start and end with A!
They aren't "typical" names.
We are Amanda, Alora and Aria, my favorites for the baby are Aubrina (or Abrina- not sure on the spelling, yet) and Amira. I have a few others on a list, like Amya, Amara, Ameila...
Very cute.
I also like Aurora, Adalia, Amelia, Anya, Azra
How do you pronounced Amira? Ah-MY-ra, or Ah-ME-ra? I like it if it's the second.
What about Alana, Alexa, Aurelia (I know, it's 4), Arabella (4, too)?
Amelia is pretty popular so in that sense it doesn't seem to go with your other choices.
So, apparently your husband is the odd-man out, then, eh?
You've pretty much set the tone with the other girls, so I guess I'd reluctantly go along with it for this kid.
FWIW, my husband was in a family of 5 kids.. all B's. HATED it.
let's all count together - she says she wants 3 syllable names
Adalia is 4
anya is 2
azra is 2
I guess Aurora works
My DD's name is AMAYA...follows your theme.
We are planning on naming this girl ALAYNA
Also like Aaliyah!
Others: Andrea, Alexia, Ariella, Amelia (was alos on our list!) I don't think it's dumb unless you find another name that you REALLY love and forgo it just for the pattern.
Thanks, gals.
Yes, Amira is pronounced ah-MEER-ah. It means "princess" in Arabic. I can't do Aurora 'cause I alread have an Alora but I do love the name. Thanks for the suggestions, I have a few of them on my list already so I like to hear that others are thinking the same way I am!
Ameila= ah-MEE-la, not Amelia but I probably wouldn't go with it because of the confusion between the two, I think people would always want to call her ah-mee-lee-ah instead.
I would avoid Aubrina/Audrina unless you're a huge fan of The Hills and want people to make that association. I'd also avoid Amelia since you'll always be correcting the pronunciation. Amira is really pretty and sounds different enough from the other names that I think confusion would be less of an issue.
If you do decide to change the "theme," I would at least stick with another name starting with A--I would also notice if I had been "left out" of a naming convention for my sisters and mom.
guess I missed that part...no need to be a biotch

Yep, Aria= are-EE-ah, just like an operatic solo
I love the ideas, ladies! Thank you so much!
I never meant for this to be a theme but once I realized what I had started I figure that it is best to stick with it! DH is odd man out- I told him that if we had a boy that I'd look for a 'W' name to coordinate with him- not sure if that would've stuck, though! Oh well, at least our dog is male!
I'm not a fan of themes, but I'd also be too OCD to let this one go at this point.
I love Amelie.
