LO Having Problems Turning Over?

LO has been laying on his side (transverse) all pregnancy. My OB said that she isn't super concerned about it yet, and if it continues to be a problem, we will deal with it. She's not made a big deal out of it, so I really haven' worried about it much either.

However, today LO started rolling, and pushing really hard. I could feel his little hands and feeting digging deep into me, and pushing at a strange angle. I swear on my life, I just know that he was trying to flip himself head down... and it was just not happening. He went crazy in there for over and hour, and then finally just stopped. Poor guy was probally exhausted.

Anyways, it was just really discouraging, because I can feel him laying sideways still. I know it's silly, but I wasn't worried about it at all before, but now I'm started to be worried that he isn't going to be able to do it. =(

Anyone had a similar experience with a transverse baby??

Re: LO Having Problems Turning Over?

  • Poor little one! My baby isn't transverse but he has been breech the entire pregnancy. I felt the same thing just a few days ago. I thought...OMG! He's going to have a seizure if he keeps trying to turn head down like that! It kinda freaked me out. My doctor said that if he's breech at 34 weeks it will most likely be c-section. Especially since I have gestational hypertension and will be having him at 37 weeks.

  • For me, LO was head down until 32 weeks. ?Ever since, she has been breech. ?I feel a lot of pushing, but she doesn't seem to be budging. ?I have a c/s scheduled for 39 weeks.

  • I did not feel mine turn, but I had a friend that very much felt hers turn.  She said it felt like a hamster trying to claw its way out or run in the little wheel all night (lucky her-no sleep that night) but that she would do it for 20 minutes or so and then relax and then do it again.  She said it took all night though, so don't get discouraged yet!  You still have plenty of time for him to turn!

  • Thank you ladies. =)

I'm most likely just being paranoid... I really just can't wait for this little guy to flip over. As much as I'm terrified of labor, I'd really like to do without a c/s!

    Thanks again!

  • Mine was breech at 30 weeks and turned last week. However, this morning I think he turned back again. It is so frustrating.

I hear that one possible way to help them turn is to lie at a decline (in other words put your bum up on several pillows so that your belly is higher than your torso). Supposedly it gets gravity to help them flip easier. I did that for 10 min a few times over a couple of days and LO flipped.  So, might be worth trying.

Now, gotta try again since he is breech again!
