I love scrapooking..don't get me wrong. BUT...it is $$ and time-consuming, both of which are very limited for me. So, I decided to scrapbook just the first year for each of my kids and the remaining years of pics would just go in regular ol' photo albums. My problem is I cannot find a decent regular photo album! They are either super ugly or tiny (2 pics/page) or thin (not enough pages). But of course the scrapbook selection is extensive everywhere I go! I have looked at Target, Aaron Brothers, BB&B, and Michael's so far. Any other suggestions for me?
What is everyone doing for their DC's pics? Are you scrapbooking them all??
Re: Does EVERYONE scrapbook these days??
I don't really scrapbook because it's $$$ and I'm just not that creative. Knitting is my hobby. As for DS's photos --- Flickr. Yeah, lame, huh?
Someday I might get around to putting them in an album.
liar liar liar liar liar liar LIAR! you're so good at scrapbooking!
i scrapbook once a month at scrapmania at archiver's with gofurr, amethystbride, and whoever else makes it that particular month (you should join us!), so it's not very time consuming. i mean, i can handle one day per month. and i love the social aspect of it, while being creative and showing off my pics of aubrey. i'm finishing up a scrapbook of aubrey's first year, with a layout of each month or occassion. past her first year, i think i'll just scrapbook the family trips and such. the normal day-to-day pictures go on the blog and saved digitally - i'll only print the ones i scrapbook.
I think they're adorable and SIL made one for Abby for Christmas. I don't have the time or patience. I don't even have many pictures of Abby printed out yet! I do love walking through the aisles though and looking at all the mini cool stuff. Minature camping stuff is so cute!
Ditto Mollie on the coffee table books (we do ours with blurb).?
I used to be big time into the scrapbooking and card making and had a room in my house devoted to all my tools and supplies... but, once we got PG my monthly "scrap allowance" turned into "baby savings" and the "scrap room" is now the playroom. So blurb.com it is (or will be).
We have used them for wedding and engagement photos, and as gifts for loved ones.. now we will be using them for our family photos as well. ?

I would love to scrapbook...if I had twice the amount of time and money that I do now! Right now I'm just printing my favorite pictures to stick in frames, but I plan to make a photo book (through Blurb or something similar) of his first year. Though with the amount of pictures I'm taking, I may have to split it in two
I did a photo album with 4x6 prints from my wedding, and for me, it was a waste of money. If I want to look at my wedding pictures, I usually just view them on my computer or look at our wedding album. So for us, I think a photo book is the way to go!
I have great plans to scrap the first year of each of my girls life but so far that has not happened.
For dd#1 we blogged one image a day for the first year of her life. For #2 we blog but not that often (sadly).
Both our girls have their own domains that we plan on passing along to them when they are old enough to manage their own sites. Until then we do blog most everything and my husband assures me he backs up the server on a nightly basis so it will not be lost.
Ahhh, no. I already spend enough $$$ on my one hobby - the last thing I need to do is add another $$ hobby!
As for the lack of photo albums around, I figure it is b/c most people are either 1) scrapbooking or 2) neglecting to ever print out the photos. I have SO MANY photos on my computer, but, sadly, hardly any printed.

I love scrapping, but I am always way behind - just finished my wedding book during my pregnancy, and I have pages from my pregnancy album laying on my work table now (7 weeks PP). My mom has recently found these page protector things at Archivers:

They are sort of a hybrid between regular albums and scrapbooks and you can mix the photos with some short little journaling blocks or embellishments to have the best of both worlds. She bought a leather notebook style album at Archivers to hold the pages so she can add as she goes and it seems like it will hold a good amount of pages. Maybe you might consider this, it could be a more cost and time effective method than full blown scrapbooking. HTH!
