Why do some people not use car seats.....

and how do the police not catch them? Dh saw a car pass by him with a woman in the passenger seat holding her baby, and several young children in the back with no car seats. I wish he would have gotten the tag number!

When I was growing up we had a neighbor who use to hold her baby in her lap while she drove!

My neighbor has 3 kids and the oldest one is no more than 4 or 5 and the youngest was born the same week I had my LO.  There is only one carseat in their car and they use an infant seat.  I couldn't imagine having my 5 year old (who is MUCH taller than theirs) not using a car seat.

I don't get that.  Everyone who has a baby has to have one, they don't let you leave the hospital unless they see you strap the baby in a car seat.  So why not use it?
