Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Taking a two month old to fireworks...

Please don't flame me if this is flame-worthy. ?It is a family tradition for us to go see the fireworks and ?really really want to go. ?The pediatrician recommended that we not go at all when i called to ask her if cotton balls are okay. ?I'm not worried about him being fussy... I am just worried about hurting his little ears. ?We would be close and it would be kinda loud. ?What would you do. ?Anybody going to see fireworks with a baby this young.?

  • I'm not taking her out this year. But I don't even take her to church yet cause the music is so loud.?

  • We are not taking our 4 month old because of the loud noises. Pedi said we could if we got those earphone things that block noise, but said if we could skip to just do that.

I would listen to your pedi. Its one year, and being a parent means making some sacrifices.

  • We don't actually go to the fire works, we just watch from a distance, so I know ds will be okay.  I told the nurse last week that ds slept through the parade in town and she said her baby slept through the fire works, so she obviously has taken her kids.  I don't know...

  • We took DS to an Astros baseball game last Friday. We try to make it to every home game, so we should have been prepared, but we forgot during summer they do fireworks. We covered his ears but they really weren't as loud as I expected. He loved watching them!!

I probably would have skipped out early if I would have remembered, but I don't think we did any damage.

ETA: Listen to the doctor though. He has your baby's best interest in mind :)

  • If your pedi says no, why would you do it?

We probably won't be bringing DS to the fireworks this year, but mainly because of the time - most shows are at 9:30 and if he's up that late, he has a total meltdown. He would probably otherwise like watching the lights but I don't want to risk having him out and screaming because he's tired.

  • We will be going to see fireworks.  She seem them twice already.  Though, where they shoot them off it is far enough where it isn't loud enough to hurt her ears.
