So I went for my NT scan today with the only perinatologist in Monterey County. ?I was quite nervous but all went well. ?He was VERY nice and explained everything and I got to see so much more than I did when we had our last u/s. ?Also, he is sticking with my due date being 1/6/10 rather than 1/11/10 and he said that yes each baby has it's own sac but that they share a placenta and that they are identical!! ?I was shocked again! After the last u/s I thought she said that there was two placentas so we have been thinking that they were fraternal. ?Another surprise here!! ?Very excited and now even more eager to find out what we are having. ?All tests so far look good and he will see me in 4 weeks and then after that every two weeks. ?What an exciting day!!!
Re: Had NT scan today...
Thank you! ?It's funny I just assumed that they would be fraternal based on first u/s, so I was surprised! ? The peri seemed pretty sure so I assume I can bank on it!
Congrats on your indentical twins. I have indentical twin boys who are now 6 months old.
If the pernatologist didn't tell you the blood work will usually come back with higher numbers because they are indentical.
My numbers for downs 1/51 and I was told was a high risk for T-18. It wasn't until we spoke to the counslor that we found out that this is normal for indentical twins.
She stated that she wouldn't have even told me to go for the NT scan, would have suggested that we wait for an Amnio.
We ended up getting an Amnio because my numbers were so bad. We already have 1 child who was 20 months old at delivery, so I needed to know what was going to happen and what life could be like.
Thankfully everything was fine.
I was 38 when I delivered the boys.
Good Luck!
