Oatmeal vs. Rice Cereal

Does anyone know of any reason not to start with oatmeal instead of rice cereal? I want to stat with oatmeal instead of rice cereal and I meant to ask the pedi this question at LOs last appt, but forgot, and would really like to start solids over the long weekend. TIA!

Rice is supposed to be less of an allergen.

I forget why, but the 'what to expect the first year' book was saying to start with the rice cereal.
