Would this bother you? Re: Daycare

Yesterday when I picked up DD from daycare, our daycare lady told me that she likes to put DD down with a receiving blanket for her naps, and a couple of times she's had to kind of peel the blanket away from DD's face, because DD really likes having her hands up by her face.

So this morning, my H asked the day care lady about it, becasue we both thought no blankets, even for naps.  Day care lady says it's not a heavy blanket, just a receiving blanket, so it should be fine.   I always thought no blankets at all, regardless of how thick or thin they are.

Would this bother you?  Is just a receiving blanket ok for DD to have during naps?  Thanks.

Personally this would bother me. I wouldn't want anything in there with DS no matter how thin.

I didnt use a blanket with DD #1 until she was about 1. So yes it would botherr me.

Irregardless of whether a baby should or should not have a receiving blanket during naps (there are a few schools of thought on that...), your daycare provider should follow your rules.  If you say no blankets for naps, she should oblige.

Yeah, I think I'm going to call her and say no blankets.

I hear ya.  I'm the same way about blankets though, why risk it KWIM?

We let her nap with a lovey or blanket now (i sleep with it the night before so it has my smell), but if you don't want her to, then they should listen to you. YOU are the parent.

Our DCP allows blankets.  I am not a fan, as I never allowed it but my mom completely undermined everything I wanted and started using a blanket and now Lily has to have one or she won't sleep.

You are the mommy, so it is whatever YOU want. 

 We use sleepsacks at both home and at daycare.

Our day care puts blankets on the babies when they are napping too.  Personally, it doesn't bother me because there is always at least one if not two teachers there watching them.  However, I never use a blanket in her crib at night.  If it makes you uncomfortable tell your DCP that you do not want any blankets, including light weight receiving blankets, on your DD at nap time.  Its your baby and they should follow your rules so that you are comfortable leaving her in their care.

Our daycare can not put anything in the bed with the baby.  I would be miffed, esp since we don't use anything at home.  Can you take a sleep sack or something for her to use instead?

I don't use anything and if I told the daycare teacher not to, I would expect her to follow my wishes. that is not ok!

we did not use a blanket on DS until he was 6mos old- and it was a crocheted blanket - so had "holes" in case he put it over his face.  I would NOT be happy with a DCP putting a blanket on my child- esp if she knows that it ends up covering her face.
