Nearly 6 mos. -- suddenly refusing formula?

We have never had a problem with DD's appetite.  She has been on solids for a month now (Gerber 1st stages) and loves both veggies and fruits.  But now for the past three days, it's a fight to get any formula down her!   She went all night without a bottle (from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.)  Normally, she will wolf down a bottle first thing in the morning, but today she only took 2 oz.!  Formula intake has been progressively less and I am starting to get concerned.  She just doesn't seem to want it!  Anyone else in the same boat?

Re: Nearly 6 mos. -- suddenly refusing formula?

  • We were dealing with this exact thing! DD was getting solids twice a day- cereal once, and cereal with a fruit or veg the other time.it got to the point where she would inhale 2-3 ounces of her bottle but then refuse anything else. It was a battle at EVERY bottle. We assumed she was getting spoiled by the solids and just did not want formula. When i talked to the pedi he said odds were she was just full because the cereal is so heavy. He had us change her feedings to cereal/fruit for breakfast, and then fruits/veggies for lunch and dinner. He said offer her 3-5 bottles a day and as long as she takes a few ounces of each, plus her multi-vitamin, she will be fine. Since we changed her meals, she takes her bottles so much better. Yesterday she finished 3 6 ounce bottles, and ate all her solids. NO more battling and everyone is much happier

  • We are having this too!  And we only do solids once a day so I have a hard time believing he is full already!  But I think I am going to try the cereal/fruit for breakfast and fruit/veggies for dinner and see if that helps.  It's so odd, he's gone from 6oz bottle every three hours to maybe 4oz every 5!
